The Hawaii Tropics play a four game series against the Seattle Storm at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Tropics could manage only a run on five hits as the Storm keep a tangle hold on the Pacific Division.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani pitched six innings allowing four runs on six hits and struck out eight batters. He falls to 2-3 on the season with a 4.48 ERA.

3B Hector Ojeda was 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, a run scored and an RBI.



Seattle wins 6-1.



Game 2- Hawaii RF Mike Campbell hits for the cycle but it wasn’t enough as the Storm win another.

Campbell homered in the first, doubled in the third, singled in the fifth and tripled in the eighth. He scored two runs and, drove in three and stole a base.

SP Jesus Gonzalez pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing five runs on eight hits, a walk and struck out four batters. He falls to 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA.



Seattle wins 7-4.



Game 3- Hawaii DH Ernest McBride and C Ron Shiplack drive in three runs apiece as the Tropics finally win one off the Storm.

McBride was 3 for 4 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBI.

Shiplack was 2 for 4 with three RBI.

SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson did just enough to keep the Storm hitters at bay to pick up the win. Johnson pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four runs on five hits, no walks and struck out five.



Hawaii wins 7-5.



Game 4- The Seattle pitching staff again holds the Tropics to a run on six hits as they take the series 3-1.

Ron Shiplack was 3 for 4 with three doubles and an RBI.

Rookie SP Ernie Poole had a nice start going 5 1/3 innings giving up just a run on six hits and a walk. He struck out one but takes the loss falling to 2-5 with a 5.92 ERA.



Seattle wins 3-1.



The Tropics hit the road for a three game series against the reigning Frick League Champs Yellow Springs Nine.



Game 1- Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber dominated the Yellow Springs hitters with a two hit shut out. He struck out six batters and walked zero throwing just 83 pitches to get the job done. Wullenweber improves to 8-1 with a 2.49 ERA.

LF Jose Camacho was 3 for 4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI.

SS Logan ‘LJ’ Niles was 1 for 4 with a solo homer.



Hawaii wins 4-0.



Game 2- The Nine escape with a win in extras over the tropics to even the series 1-1.

Nicky Destefani pitched well again for Hawaii going 6 2/3 innings. He surrendered a run on seven hits, a walk and struck out two batters. He gets a no decision but lowers his ERA to 4.16.

LF Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 3 for 5 with a double, a homer, a run scored and three RBI.

1B Gary Allen was 2 for 6 with a double, a homer, a run scored and two RBI.



Yellow Springs wins 9-6.



Game 3- The Tropics ride the powerful bat of Ernest McBride to a series win over the Yellow Springs Nine.

McBride was 3 for 4 with three homers, two of which were Grand Slams. McBride scored three time and drove in a new Hawaii Tropics record nine runs.

Jesus Gonzalez improved to 4-3 with 5 1/3 innings of work where he allowed two runs on six hits and walked two. He struck out five.



Hawaii wins 14-7 and wins the series 2-1.

Man, talk about hard series to know who to cheer for...

My favorite part of all these is that one of you lost each of these games.
