The Hawaii Tropics begin their first home stand of the season with a three game series against the San Fernando Bears at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The San Fernando Bears shut out the Hawaii Tropics behind a solid effort by SP Felipe Guevara. The Tropics lineup managed only seven hits on the day, all off of Guevara over seven innings.

C Ron Shiplack collected 2 hits in four at bats while 2B Carlos Martinez also racked up 2 hits in three at bats.

Hawaii SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson pitched 5 2/3 innings in the loss. He gave up three runs on ten hits and walked three. He struck out five and cals to 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA.



San Fernando wins 5-0.



Game 2- The Bears score three runs late and take the second game of the series. Tropics hurler Jesus Gonzalez pitched 8 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out four but took the loss. He is 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA.

1B Gary Allen was 2 for 4 with a solo homer.



San Fernando wins 3-2.



Game 3- The Tropics avoid the series sweep on an extra inning walk off three run homer off teh bat of LF Bastiao Fardos. Fardos ended the day 2 for 4 with a run and four RBI.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani pitched 7 2/3 innings surrendering four runs on nine hits and struck out six in a no decision.

RP Felipe Lopez pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and gave up just a hit and struck out three to get the win in relief.

Hawaii 3B Hector Ojeda was 1 for 4 with a three run homer.



Hawaii wins 7-4 but San Fernando wins the series 2-1.



The Tropics next host the Chicago Black Sox for a three game series at Diamond Head. The Tropics are having a GM Vic Caleca Booblehead Day. We hope he gets well soon!



Game 1- The Black Sox score two runs in the top of the ninth then hold on for the series opening win over the Tropics. Hawaii wasted a good start by SP Alaric Wullenweber. Wullenweber pitched 7 1/3 giving up three runs on eleven hits and struck out seven batters.

Gary Allen was 1 for 4 with a solo homer.

RF Mike Campbell was 2 for 5 with a solo homer.



Chicago wins 5-4.



Game 2- Hawaii Rookie SP Ernie Poole continues to impress his first time through the BBA. Poole pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up just a run on eight huts and a walk. He struck out four batter in a no decision. Another Hawaii Rookie P Denny Hamilton earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief with a K. He gets his first career win.

CF Michel Noel was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.

DH Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez contributed a solo homer in three at bats.



Hawaii wins 4-1.



Game 3- Hawaii SP Zak Johnson earned his pay with 8 innings of work giving up two runs on five hits, three walks and four Ks. He improves to 1-2 on the season with a 6.43 ERA.

Carlos Martinez was 3 for 4 with a double, a homer, two runs scored and two RBI.

Gary Allen was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.



Hawaii wins 8-4 and wins the series 2-1.
