The Hawaii Tropics host the Valencia Stars in a three game series at Diamond Head. The Tops are on an eight game winning streak and in a toe with the Long Beach Surfers atop the Pacific.



Game 1- Hawaii Starter Jesus Gonzalez said before this game that he is feeling the best he has all season. He proved that with a great six inning effort against the Valencia Stars. Gonzalez allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters. He improved to 2-4 and lowered his ERA to 3.75.

1B Gary Allen was the leader on offense going 2 for 4 with a solo homer.

LF Bastiao Fardos was 2 for 2 with a walk, a run and a stolen base.



Hawaii wins 2-1.



Game 2- The Tropics extend their winning streak to 10 with another win over Valencia. This is Hawaii’s second winning streak of at least 10 games this season. RP Raymond Ortiz got the start and had the best start in the majors of his career. He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up a run on four hits, two walks and struck out five. He improves to 3-1 on the season.

RF Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a win and an RBI.

Bastiao Fardos continues to surge going 1 for 4 with a solo homer.

SS Ben Vaive was 2 for 4 with a solo homer.



Hawaii wins 5-2.



Game 3- The Tropics win behind a 10 homer barrage against the Valencia Stars to extend the winning streak to 11 games. Gary Allen belted three homers, Bastia Fardos, DH Ernest McBride and 3B Fernando Rodriguez each had two homer games while Mike Campbell aded a solo shot.

Allen was 3 for 4 with the there homers, two walks, four runs scored and five RBI.

Campbell was 1 for 3 with solo homer, a walk and two runs scored.

Fardos was 2 for 4 with the two homers, a walk, three runs and two RBI.

McBride was 2 for 4 with the two homers, a walk, two runs scored and five RBI.

SP Zak Johnson pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four runs on nine hits, two walks and struck out seven. He improves to 11-3 with a 4.01 ERA.



Hawaii wins 17-4 and sweep the series.



The Hawaii Tropics go on the road for a four game series against the San Fernando Bears at Chico’s Bail Bonds Field.



Game 1- The San Fernando Bears end the Tropics win streak at 11 as they pound Hawaii in the series opener. Hawaii SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani is hurt again by a poor Tropics defense. He gives up six runs on six hits, 2 walks and strikes out seven over 3 2/3 innings of work. He falls to 6-14 on the season.

Mike Campbell was 2 for 5 with a triple and a solo homer.



San Fernando wins 18-7.



Game 2- The Hawaii bullpen coughs up another lead as SanFernando takes a 2-0 series lead. SP Alaric Wullenweber was average but left the game with a lead. Wullenweber went 6 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out four.

2B Jack “Junkyard” Nichols was 3 for 5 with a Grand Slam.



San Fernando wins 8-7.



Game 3- Gary Allen and Mike Campbell homer to lead the Hawaii Tropics over San Fernando. Allen was 1 for 4 with a solo homer and walk. He scored two runs. Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a solo homer.

Jesus Gonzalez struggled a bit going 4 2/3 innings and surrendering four runs on seven hits and walked five batters. He struck out four in the no decision. The bullpen came through this time giving up no runs on four hits and two walks over 4 1/3 innings of relief.



Hawaii wins 9-4.



Game 4- The Tropics scratch out a series split with the San Fernando Bears on the hitting of Gary Allen. Allen was 4 for 4 with a solo homer, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. C Ron Shiplack was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI.

Raymond Ortiz pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up two runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out three in a no decision.



Hawaii wins 6-2.
