The Hawaii Tropics make their final road trip before the 2045 All Star Game as they pay a visit to the Louisville Sluggers. The Tropics are terrible against the Heartland bringing a 14-18 record into this series. Hawaii has handled the Pacific easily so far going 37-15.
Game 1- Louisville SP Edward Crutcher pitched a three hit shutout of the Tropics in the series opener.
Hawaii SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani pitched six innings giving up two runs on six hits, walking three and striking out six but falls to 4-10 on the season.
CF Michel Noel, RF Mike Campbell and 2B Jack “Junkyard” Nichols were the only Tropics to collect a hit against Crutcher.
Louisville wins 5-0.
Game 2- Tropics hurler Alaric Wullenweber threw 101 pitches in 5 1/3 innings but surrendered just one run on six hits and walked a batter. He struck out nine and won his 11th game of the season.
RP Stephen Taub pitched two clean innings striking out three and earning his 10th save.
1B Gary Allen was 2 for 5 with a homer a run scored and two RBI.
DH Ernest McBride was 3 for 5 with two doubles, homer, two runs and two RBI.
C Ron Shiplack was 2 for 5 with two RBI and a stolen base.
Hawaii wins 6-1.
Game 3- The Sluggers batter Tropics SP Bob McConnell for nine runs (eight earned) in 3 1/3 innings. McConnell gave up seven hits, walked four and struck out none. He falls to 3-8 with a 5.63 ERA.
Jack Nichols had a big day in a losing cause going 3 for 4 with two homers, two runs scored and four RBI.
Louisville wins 11-4.
Game 4- Louisville Ace James Browning wins his 13th game of the season as the Sluggers win the series over the Tropics 3-1.
Hawaii SP Jesus Gonzalez has struggled since his injury early this season and doesn’t seem to be himself on the mound. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, walked three and struck out three. He is 1-3 with a 4.57 ERA.
Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a solo homer.
Ron Shiplack was 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Louisville wins 5-2.
The Hawaii Tropics will send two players to the 2045 BBA All Star Game to represent the Frick League against the Johnson League at The Trail in Multnomah.
SP Alaric Wullenweber was chosen by voters for his fourth All Star game and was named the starter of the game.
1B Gary Allen was chosen by voters for his fourth All Star game and will start for the Frick League at first.
