The Hawaii Tropics host another Heartland team as the Omaha Cyclones arrive to play the Trops in a four game series at Diamond Head. The Cyclones are keeping pace with the Yellow Springs Nine in the Heartland race and Hawaii is trying to maintain their lead over the Sacramento Mad Popes in the Pacific.



Game 1- The Tropics take the series opener behind a two run homer by Ernest McBride and on the mound by SP Bob McConnell’s strong start.

McBride was 2 for 4 on the day with a run and two RBI.

McConnell pitched six innings giving up a run on four hits, walked two and struck out three Cyclones. He improves to 2-6 with a 5.13 ERA.



Hawaii wins 3-2.



Game 2- The Cyclones blow the game open with a seven run fourth inning and cruise to a win to tie the series 1-1.

Hawaii SP Jesus Gonzalez was awful, giving up eight runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out three. He falls to 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA.

1B Gary Allen was 2 for 4 with a two run homer.



Omaha wins 8-2.



Game 3-Omaha Starter Timo Dooley shuts out the Tropics throwing 137 pitches. The Tropics manage just four hits and work three walks while striking out eight times.

SP Zak Johnson pitched six innings giving up five runs (three earned) on nine hits, three walk allowed and struck out four. He falls to 8-2 with a 3.34 ERA.



Omaha wins 9-0.



Game 4- Omaha shuts out the Tropics for the second straight game. Cyclone Starter Norio Hayashi went the distance allowing just five hits and walked one. He threw 120 pitches and struck out four Tropics.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani is having a down season for Hawaii as he was hammered for six runs on five hits, walked three and struck out three. He falls to 3-9 with a 4.89 ERA.



Omaha wins 11-0 and wins the series 3-1.



The Portland Lumberjacks come to the island to face a reeling Tropics team that needs some wins quick. They face off in a two game series.



Game 1- The Lumberjacks get to Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber as he gives up four runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out ten in 6 2/3 innings of work.

The Tropics did get a bit of offense as McBride was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.



Portland wins 7-3.



Game 2- The Lumberjacks complete the sweep of the Tropics with a win at Diamond Head. Bob McConnell lost his seventh game of the season going four innings giving up three runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out six batters in 90 pitches.

Gary Allen continues to tear the cover off the ball going 2 for 4 with a homer, three runs scored and an RBI.



Portland wins 6-3.



The Tropics hope to leave their hitting woes on the island as they take a trip to Seattle for a two game series against the Storm at King County Complex.



Game 1- Hawaii Starter stops the bleeding going 6 1/3 innings allowing just one run on six hits, walked two and struck out seven. He wins his first game of the season and lowers his ERA to 4.18.

RF Mike Campbell was 2 for 4with a two run homer.



Hawaii wins 4-1.



Game 2- The Tropics win a slugfest against the Storm to get a series sweep. Gary Allen goes 2 for 5 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBI and C Ron Shiplack was 3 for 5 with two doubles, a run and three RBI.

Zak Johnson failed horribly this start but was picked up by his bullpen. Johnson made it just 2 1/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk. He struck out three but was let off the hook by his offense.



Hawaii wins 9-8.
