The Hawaii Tropics take a trip to Vancouver for a four game series against the Mounties at Northwoods Outpost.

Game 1- The Hawaii Tropics were derailed by an error in the eighth inning that contributed to a four run inning. 2B Jack “Junkyard” Nichols booted an easy play at second that began the outburst for the Mounties.

1B Gary Allen was 4 for 5 with a double.

SP Bob McConnell was effective against the Mounties going 6 1/3 innings giving up no runs on six hits with a walk and five Ks.

RP Norm McConnell recorded the first out in the eighth before the error. He then walked four batters and gave up a hit. The Mounties scored four unearned runs off of McConnell to get the lead.

Vancouver wins 4-2.

Game 2- The Tropics pound out 17 hits and score 12 runs taking out their frustrations on the Mounties. Gary Allen blasted his 14th homer of the season going 3 for 5 with three runs scored and four RBI. DH Ernest McBride added a two run shot going 2 for 5 with a run scored and four RBI. Lead off hitter CF Manny Garcia continues his breakout season going 3 for 4 with two runs scored.

Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber pitched 7 1/3 innings allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four batters. He improves to 6-3 with a 2.76 ERA.

Hawaii wins 12-2.

Game 3- The Vancouver Mounties turn the tables on the Tropics banging out 18 hits and 18 runs on Hawaii pitching to go up 2-1 in the series. CF Manny Garcia gave it his best attempt to keep Hawaii in the game going 3 for 4 with two big homers, four runs, four RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Gary Allen was 2 for 5 with a double, scoring a run and driving in two.

The Tropics went with a bullpen day and were once again disappointed. Tropics Manager Ricardo Morales said that is a problem with Jesus Gonzalez out. We will go with Stephen Taub in that spot for now. He does such a great job on the back end but we need someone that can start for a bit until Jesus gets well.

Vancouver wins 18-9.

Game 4- The Tropics fall to the Mounties late as the tired bullpen can’t hold a lead. Manny Garcia was 1 for 4 with another homer and two RBI. SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani gave up two runs on five hits and three walks. He struck out four batters in six innings of work.

Vancouver wins 5-3 and takes the series 3-1.

The Tropics continue their road trip with a two game series against the Portland Lumberjacks at the Trail in Multnomah.

Game 1- The Tropics score two times in extras to get by the Lumberjacks in the opener. RF Mike Campbell was 4 for 4 with a solo homer, three runs scored and two RBI. C Ron Shiplack was 2 for 5 with two RBI.

SP Zak Johnson ate some innings giving up four runs on eight hits, two walks and struck out three in 6 1/3 pitched.

Hawaii wins 7-5.

Game 2- Hawaii Starter Bob McConnell was awful against the Lumberjacks walking five and giving up five hits. The Lumberjacks score six runs and hit two homers off McConnell in just 1 2/3 innings pitched.

Ernest McBride was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI.

Portland wins 11-4.
