The Hawaii Tropics travel to Nebraska for a three game series with the Omaha Cyclones at Hawks Field.



Game 1- The Tropics struggle without their star power as Omaha Cyclones win the opener.

Tropics SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani gave up 6 hits and 4 walks that led to 3 runs. He struck out 2 batters in 5 innings of work but gets a no decision.

SS Fernando Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with a run scored and two stole bases.



Omaha wins 8-1.



Game 2- The Cyclones jump on the Tropics early and cruise to an easy win.

Hawaii SP Bob McConnell was ambushed by the Omaha batters and his own defense. McConnell pitched just 2 2/3 innings and surrendered 6 runs (one earned) on 7 hits and a walk. His defense let him down as 1B Gary Allen committed a key error in the bottom of the second inning on a ball scorched to his right.

RF Mike Campbell was 3 for 4 with a solo homer.

LF Bastiao Fardos was 1 for 3 with a solo homer and two RBI.



Omaha wins 9-3.



Game 3- The Cyclones put up a 9 spot in the bottom of the fourth to crush the Tropics and sweep the series.

SP Jesus Gonzalez was the latest Tropics pitcher to be hammered by Omaha hitters. He allowed 8 runs on 5 hits, 5 walks and struck out 4 batters in 3 2/3 innings.

Fernando Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a runs scored.



Omaha wins 10-3.



The Tropics get an off day to recuperate and get after it against Bluebirds. Hawaii will play a three game series against Nashville at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Tropics kept the Bluebirds close then struck for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to get the win.

Alaric Wullenweber gave his teammates 6 solid innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 10 batters but received a no decision.

RP Stephen Taub earned the win pitching 2 innings and allowing just one hit and striking out 3.

Pinch hitter Pierangelo Ferri hit the game winner with a 2 run shot.



Hawaii wins 3-2.



Game 2- The Tropics score 6 runs on the bottom of the sixth and then hold on for the win.

Hawaii SP Zak Johnson was cruising along until the seventh when he was tagged for 3 runs that chased him from the game. He finished with 6 1/3 innings pitched, 7 runs and 5 runs allowed. He improves to 11-8 with a 4.85 ERA.

Mike Campbell provided the offense going 2 for 5 with two homers, two runs and two RBI.

DH Jose Camacho was 1 for 2 with a double, three walks, two runs and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 8-6.



Game 3- A Fernando Rodriguez error leads to 4 unearned runs as the Bluebirds avoid being swept by Hawaii.

Nick Destefani pitched 5 innings and gives up just one earned run (5 unearned) on 5 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 9 batters but is charged with the loss.

C Enrique Dominguez] was 1 for 2 with a walk, a run and an RBI.


Nashville wins 7-4 but Hawaii wins the series 2-1.

Would have been nice to get the W against Wullenweber. Blew it.
