The Hawaii Tropics host the Valencia Stars at Diamond Head for a three game series.



Game 1- Hawaii 1B Gary Allen hits 3 of the 4 Tropics solo homers to take the series opener in extras. The Stars tied the game in the top of the eighth inning on an Aaron Haney solo homer off of SP Alaric Wullenweber. The game went to extras and Allen crushed his 3rd homer of the game in the bottom of the eleventh to walk it off.

Allen was 3 for 5 on the day.

Wullenweber pithed 7 1/3 innings and surrendered 3 runs on 4 hits, a walk while striking out 8 batters.

DH Ernest McBride was 2 for 4 with a solo homer.

RP Stephen Taub pitched an inning giving up 2 hits and striking out one. He earned his 2nd win of the season.



Hawaii wins 4-3.



Game 2- The Tropics used a bullpen day and SS Fernando Rodriguez hits a 3 run homer to lead Hawaii to victory.

RP Luis Santiago pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up just 1 hit and struck out 2 batters to earn his 2nd win of the season.

RP Stephen Taub pitched 3 innings, allowed just a hit and struck out 3. He recorded his 3rd save of the season.

DH Ernest McBride was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, a run and 2 RBI.



Hawaii wins 7-2.



Game 3- The Stars come back from down 11-6 to avoid the sweep as Valencia and Hawaii combine for 25 runs, 32 hits and 4 errors.

SP Zak Johnson’s struggles continue after a good start to the season. He doesn’t make it out of the 4th inning allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and a walk. He struck out 5 batters in 3 2/3 innings.

RF Mike Campbell was 2 for 5 with a homer, 2 runs and 3 RBI.

C Ron Shiplack was 3 for 5 with a homer a runs scored and 2 RBI.

LF Jose Camacho was 2 for 5 with a run and 2 RBI.

SS Fernando Rodriguez was 3 for 5 with another 3 run homer.



Valencia wins 14-11 but Hawaii wins the series 2-1.



After a day off, the Tropics welcome the Omaha Cyclones to Diamond Head for a three game series.



Game 1- Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tropics score 3 runs to take the lead. The rally was capped off by a Ernest McBride single that scored Gary Allen from third. Allen was 2 for 3 with a homer, triple, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.

LF Bastiao Fardos was 2 for 3 also tripled and homered. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs.

C Ron Shiplack was 2 for 3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

SP Jesus Gonzalez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5 batters in a no decision.



Hawaii wins 7-5.



Game 2- Omaha SP Akil Kondo pays off for the Cyclones against the Tropics. Kondo baffles the Hawaii lineup in 7 innings of work. He allowed just 4 hits and a run while striking out 12 Tropics on the way to getting his 2nd win of the season.

LF Bastiao Fardos doubles in the only Hawaii run of the game going 1 for 4.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani pitched 4 2/3 innings and surrendered 6 runs on 7 hits, walking one batter and striking out 2. He falls to 3-1.



Omaha wins 7-1.



Game 3- In the rubber game, Alaric Wullenweber and two relievers kept the Cyclones a bay. Wullenweber pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 7. RP Stephen Taub then went 1 2/3 innings and gave up 2 hits and struck out 2. Then, RP Norm McConnell finished the game off with a clean ninth for his 9th save of the season.

Bastiao Fardos was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI.

Fernando Rodriguez was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI.



Hawaii wins 5-2 and takes the series 2-1.

Definitely my least favorite team, top to bottom, in the league right now.
