The Hawaii Tropics head to Sacramento for a three game series against the Pacific Division leader Mad Popes.



Game 1- Sacramento scores 4 in the third inning and cruise to a series opening win.

RF Mike Campbell goes 1 for 4 with a 2 run homer and CF Ronnie Hubbard goes 1 for 4 with a solo homer.

SP Jesus Gonzalez was pasted with 4 earned runs (5 runs) over 2 1/3 innings. He gave up 3 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks while striking out 5 batters. He falls to 14-9 with a 4.81 ERA.



Sacramento wins 7-3.



Game 2- Mad Popes Starter Cisco “Trapper”Morales and Tropics Starter Alaric Wullenweber engaged in a pitching battle at South Pacific Field. Both pitchers went 8 innings with the difference being Wullenweber giving up 3 runs to Morales’s 1.

Wullenweber surrendered 6 hits, 3 walks and struck out 3 batters. He falls to 12-11 with a 3.60 ERA.

C Ron Shiplack was 1 for 3 with a solo homer.

Sacramento wins 3-1.



Game 3- With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the eighth, DH Ernest McBride stroked a double to the right field gap that allowed Gary Allen to score from first to give the Tropics a narrow 3-2 lead.
RP Maxime Manceau and RP Norm McConnell made that score stand up. Tropics SP Zak Johnson recorded the first out of the bottom of the eighth and then surrendered the mound to Manceau. Manceau allowed a hit before getting the final 2 outs of the eighth. McConnell allowed a hit, a walk and struck out 2 in the ninth and earned his 31st save.

Johnson pitched 7 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 6. He improves to 12-10 with a 4.17 ERA.

McBride was 1 for 3 with the game winning RBI.

Hawaii wins 3-2 but loses the series 2-1.



The Tropics return to Diamond Head for a three game series with the San Fernando Bears.



Game 1- The Tropics utilized a bullpen day for the series opener. This time the ‘pen couldn’t keep the Bears offense in check.

Ernest McBride was 1 for 5 with a 2 run homer.

Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a 2 run homer and also scored 3 runs.



San Fernando wins 9-7.



Game 2- The Bears tie the game with a 2 run ninth but Ernest McBride caps off another two homer game with a two run mammoth shot to give the Tropics the walk off extra inning win. McBride was 3 for 5 with 2 runs and 4 RBI. He has 56 homers and 150 RBI on the season.

LF Bastiao Fardos was 3 for 5 with a homer, double, 3 runs and an RBI.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing a run on just 3 hits and a walk. He struck out 5 in a no decision.

Hawaii wins 5-3.



Game 3- The 2037 UMEBA Bancroft Pitcher of the Year RJ Hughes silenced the Tropics bats with 8 1/3 innings of 4 hit ball. He allowed just 1 run and struck out 4. 2 of his 3 wins this season are against the Hawaii Tropics.

Tropics Starter Jesus Gonzalez allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (3 homers) and a walk while striking out 7 batters. He falls to 14-10.

Ronnie Hubbard was 1 for 4 with an RBI.



San Fernando wins 4-1 and series the series 2-1.
