The Hawaii Tropics pay a visit to The Omaha Cyclones for a three game series at Hawks Field.


Game 1- SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani and two relievers combine to allow 1 run on just 4 hits to take the opener. LF Bastiao Fardos leads the offense going 3 for 4 with a double and a homer, 2 runs scored, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base.

Destefani went 5 2/3 innings and surrendered a run on 3 hits, 4 walks and struck out 6 batters. He is now 2-2 with a 4.08 ERA.

RP Luis Torres pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out 3 batters.

RF Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI.

Hawaii wins 6-1.


Game 2- The Tropics offense finally gives Alaric Wullenweber some runs support pounding out 17 hits and scoring 10 runs. Wullenweber wasn’t great but got the job done going 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, walked none and struck out 4. He is now 3-5 with a 3.53 ERA.

Bastiao Fardos had another solid game going 3 for 5 with a 2 run homer. He scored 3 runs, drove in 2 runs and stole a base.

DH Ernest McBride was also 3 for 5 with a 2 run homer, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.

C Ron Shiplack was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.


Hawaii wins 10-5.



Game 3- Recent acquisition Ronnie Hubbard makes his presence known in his first game as a Tropic as Hawaii sweeps Omaha. Hubbard was 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI.
SS Fernando Rodriguez was on fire, going 4 for 4 with 2 homers, a double and a single. He scored 3 and drove in 3.

GM Jim Walker said, "Hubbard gives us speed, power, defense and leadership."

SP Zak Johnson was excellent going 7 innings allowing just 2 hits, a walk and struck out 5 batters. He is now 4-2 with a 4.39 ERA.


Hawaii wins 9-1.



The Tropics make their next stop in Portland for a four game series with the Lumberjacks at the Trail at Multnomah.



Game 1- Lumberjack Starter Terrence Kelly was dominant versus theTropics lineup allowing a single run on 4 hits, 3 walks and recorded 3 Ks.

2B Miguel Rodriguez was 1 for 4 with a triple and a run scored.

SP Stephen Taub was roughed up going just 2 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits and a walk.


Portland wins 7-1.


Game 2- The Hawaii Tropics unleash a 5 homer barrage on the Lumberjacks in the second game. RF Mike Campbell led the way going 3 for 5 with a double, homer, 3 runs and 4 RBI. Fardos, McBride, Hubbard and 3B Gary Allen added homers.

Fardos was 3 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI.

McBride was 2 for 3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI.

Allen was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 3 RBI.

SP Jesus Gonzalez pitched 5 innings allowing 4 runs on 9 hits and struck out 5 batters. He improved to 3-1 with a 5.15 ERA.


Hawaii wins 13-4.


Game 3- The Tropics jump on the Lumberjacks for 3 runs in the first inning and cruise to another road win. Nick Destefani allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk. He struck to 6 batters in 7 innings of work. He is 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA.

Bastiao Fardos continued his hot streak going 3 for 4 with another homer, 3 runs and an RBI.

Ernest McBride also homered again going 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI.


Hawaii wins 6-2.


Game 4- Wullenweber strikes out 10 and McBride and LF Jose Camacho homer to send the Tropics to a series win. Wullenweber pitched 7 innings surrendered 3 runs on 6 hits and walked none.

SS Miguel Rodriguez was 2 for 5 with a run scored.

McBride was 3 for 5 with a run and 3 RBI.

Camacho was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI. It doesn’t matter which left fielder plays as both players are doing damage.


Hawaii wins 6-3.
