The Tropic News 2043.7
The Tropics finish their home stand with a three game series against the Seattle Storm at Diamond Head.
Game 1- The Tropics bats fall asleep when behind SP Alaric Wullenweber. The Trops get just 6 hits against Storm pitching and take a beat down in the opener.
Wullenweber was hammered for 5 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out 5 batters over 5 1/3 innings of work.
DH Ernest McBride had 2 of the teams 6 hits going 2 for 4.
SS Fernando Rodriguez was 2 for 3.
Seattle wins 9-0.
Game 2- The Tropics turn the tables on the Storm in the second game. Trops pitching allow just 5 hits and shut out Seattle.
SP Stephen Taub had a good day going 7 1/3 giving up just 4 hits and struck out 3 batters.

RP Felipe Lopez continues with his feast or famine performance going 1 2/3 innings giving up just 1 hit and striking out 4 batters.
1B Manuel Aguilar, Jr. was 4 for 4 with a homer, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Hawaii wins 6-0.
Game 3- SP Zak Johnson was staked to a 6-1 lead that he could not hold as Seattle storms back and takes the rubber game in the series.
Johnson pitched 4 innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and struck out 3 batters.
Ernest McBride was 2 for 5 with a double, homer, 3 RBI and a run scored.
LF Bastiao Fardos was 2 for 3 with a double, triple, a walk, an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Seattle wins 8-6 and takes the series 2-1.
The Hawaii Tropics go to the mainland for a three game series with the Sacramento Mad Popes at South Pacific Field.
Game 1- The Tropics offense has done the minimum as of late. In the series opener, the Tropics get just 6 hits but slide by the Mad Popes in a thriller. After a fine performance by SP Jesus Gonzalez, RP Norm McConnell could not nail down the save. The game remained tied 2-2 until RF Mike Campbell tripled and then driven home by a Ron Shiplack single to give the Trops the lead. RP Douglas Wils pitched 2/3 of an inning and picked up the save.
Gonzalez pitched 7 innings allowing just 1 run on 6 hits. He walked no one and struck out 7 batters in the no decision.
Campbell was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI.
Shiplack was 2 for 4 with a walk and an RBI.
McBride was 1 for 5 with a solo homer.
Hawaii wins 3-2.
Game 2- Mad Popes Starter Dani Garcia one hit the Tropics. Garcia pitched 9 innings allowed the 1 hit, walked 2 and struck out 5 in just 97 pitches.
Sacramento wins 8-0.
Game 3- The Hawaii offensive woes continue as Wullenweber again is left out to dry with no run support. Wullenweber went 6 2/3 innings allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 7 batters.
McBride went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Sacramento wins 4-1 and win the series 2-1.
In postgame interviews, GM Jim Walker said, “Kelly Finley is on the hot seat. He has this team 3 games over .500 in 3+ seasons. If he can’t any more out of these guys I will find someone who will.”
