The Tropic News 2042.26
The Tropics finish their long homestand with a four game series with the Louisville Sluggers at Diamond Head.
Game 1- The Louisville Sluggers score 5 runs in the top of the eighth inning of RP Luis Santiago in 2/3 of a inning and stun the Trops.
RF Mike Campbell led the Hawaii Offense and gave a valiant effort in going 3 for 4 including two homers. He scored three runs and drove in three.
1B Manuel Aguilar, Jr. added a homer in going 2 for 4.
LF Bastiao Fardos was 2 for 5 with a run scored and a stolen base.
SP Stephen Taub was solid through the first five innings but tripped up in the sixth and gave up 4 runs. His final line was 6 1/3 IP, 4 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks and 5 Ks.
Louisville wins 9-6.
Game 2- The Tropics overcome four errors and flip the Game 1 score on Louisville. LF Jose Camacho provided the fireworks with his 9th homer of the year with one on in the fourth inning. Camacho finished 3 for 4 on the day adding a single and a double to the homer. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

SP Jesus Gonzalez pitched 5 innings allowed 4 runs (0 earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 10 batters. Gonzalez improved to 9-9 with a 4.00 ERA.
Hawaii wins 9-6.
Game 3- Louisville Starter James Browning silence the Hawaii bats allowing just 1 run on 2 hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Hawaii Starter Alaric Wullenweber didn’t match Browning giving up 5 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks in 5 1/3 innings while striking out 8 batters. Wullenweber falls to 10-9 with a 4.16 ERA.
Louisville wins 6-1.
Game 4- The Tropics commit three more errors and lose the series to the opportunistic Sluggers.
SP Zak Johnson and company received no help from the defense. Johnson pitcher 5 1/3 innings gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits and 4 walks. He struck out 6 in the no decision.
RF Mike Campbell was 3 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
1B Ernest McBride was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored a run and drove in a run.
Louisville wins 8-6 and take the series 3-1.
The Tropics hit the road for a two game series with the Yellow Springs 9 at Utopia Field.
Game 1- The Tropics struggle again with good pitching as Yellow Springs Starter Ernesto Ramos allows a run on four hits and strikes out 10 batters.
Stephen Taub was solid again over 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks. He only struck out 1 batter and falls to 9-7.
2B Jack “Junkyard” Nichols drove in the only run for Hawaii with a double in the fifth off of Ramos.
Nichols was 1 for 2 added a walk and is now hitting .231 this season with 8 homers and 45 RBI.
The Tropics did turn 3 double plays and CF Doeke Soethout threw out a runner at third.
Yellow Springs wins 4-1.
Game 2- The Trops come back from being down 4-2 and 6-4 to steal a game late from the Yellow Springs 9. CF Doeke Soethout was 3 for 4 with a 2 run homer in the fifth. He also tripled, scored 2 runs and worked a walk.

Veteran DH and Team Captain Ettienne LaFitte hit a pinch hit 2 run homer in the seventh.
C Ron Shiplack had a banner day going 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a run scored and an RBI.
SP Jesus Gonzalez struggled over 5 innings but was not involved in the decision. He surrendered 4 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4 batters.
Hawaii wins 8-6 and get a series split.
