The Naples Tropics began the Florida Prospect League going 4-3 the first week. They are 1 game back of Tampa and Homestead at 5-2.CF Steven Bursey (Carson City Gamblers AA) led all Tropics hitters this week as he slashed .345/.441/.552. He had a double, triple and a homer while driving in 5 and scoring 7 runs. He walked 4 times, struck out 8 times and stole a base.

1B Pat Farley (Medord Mules A) was the DH and led the team with 2 homers and 9 homers. He slashed .231/.310/.462. Farley is a defensive liability and pins is hopes on sharpening his hit tool to get into games a DH.

SP Niccolò Destefani (Death Valley Scorpions AAA) made 2 starts this week allowing 3 runs on 6 hits (1 HR) over 12 2/3 innings of work. He struck out 13 and walked 3 posting a 2.13 ERA. Destefani is just staying sharp and working toward his BBA Debut.

RP Cristo Roman (Medford Mules A) made three appearances pitching 7 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 9 hits (2 HR) walking 4 and striking out 7. He posted a 2.45 ERA for the week. He need to work on keeping his walks down and getting some depth on is slider in an attempt to cut down on his high HR/9.
