2040/2 A Solid Start

Post by nerfHerder » Mon Sep 30, 2019 3:42 pm

4-1 after 5 is what the doctor ordered. The only loss? A walk off homer from Des Moines. The offense has gotten off to a hot start, the exact opposite of last season. The pitching is looking like it may be the same as a year ago, which isn't a bad thing. Here are some takeaways..

Gung-Ho is a good "LaFitte" in Hawaii. After going 1-4 in the season opener, LaFitte went off. Three three hit games and four homers, to go with his BBA leading twelve RBI. It seems as though LaFitte is out to prove his doubters wrong."I'm really just going day by day", LeFitte recently said. "I really like the make up of this team, the camaraderie. They really like to have fun, but also go out and win some games". So far so good. Especially when you consider he already has surpassed last seasons WAR (0.3->0.6)

Dave Tallent is off to a hot start. Obviously it's early, but the signs are encouraging. Three HR, and a .400 plus average are good, but the five walks are a great sign. Dave spent most of 2039 in AAA trying to figure out how to hit again. "That switch to second base two years ago really jacked me up", Tallent said. "Then last year trying to play third again...I don't know man. It's all good now though".

Douglas Wils could be this years Robert Hobbs. Remember Hobbs? He went from a publicly shamed SP to an all-star RP that received reliever of the year votes. Wils was brought over to be the 5th starter as season ago when injuries ravaged the club. He struggle mightily. Moved to a relief role he bounced back slightly. Nothing like he has started now. In two appearances over six innings he has only given up a hit (an HR) and has struck out 10. Keep this up and he may well be on his way to the all star game. Very early for sure, but those K numbers jump out at you.

In closing, a good start. 4-1, could've been 5-0 if not for a walk off. Also have yet to play a home game, where the club is better suited to play. will be interesting. Go Tropics!!

I'm hoping to enact a little revenge when you come to Cali to start this next sim. Gung Ho was a great addition, though..

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
