2039/5 Take a Ride on the Love Machine

Post by nerfHerder » Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:00 am

Kinky. All season long the Tropics have had trouble scoring runs. Until recently some of the biggest names weren't performing to their capability. After some thought and time scouring the minor league system to come up with what was next, the team brass decided to turn outside the organization. With a deep, talented minor league system they set out to add players and hopefully hang on to the top level prospects. Enter the Love Machine.

Luis "Love Machine" Castillo was playing LF for the Edmonton Jackrabbits. After discussing a few other players, talks focused more on Costello and his ability to play an adequate CF, a spot that is bare in Hawaii. It seemed like a perfect fit. To acquire him, the team sent their #6 and #8 prospects to Edmonton in the form of Jamie Herrera and Chandler Hall. It's a deal that really makes sense for both sides.

"We really hate to see two young pitchers head out the door", GM Mike Bieschke said. "With Costello though, we feel we are getting a guy who will fit right in here in Hawaii. He'll be extremely popular with the fans. He can hit for power (would be second on the team in HR), has hit for average, he's great in high leverage situations. Just a nice fit. He had a rough April, but has shown he's starting to come around". If he can produce it will be something that is sorely needed in Hawaii as they cling to hopes of a post season berth.

Trying to be above .500 at least. Whatever comes from that is a bonus.
