Robert Hobbs should be an All-Star. I know, I know. You think Steve Taub, Manny Aguilar Jr., and Benton Allen should be. You do, right? Robert Hobbs was the guy that our very own commish said was part of the 2038 Craptastic Team. In fairness, Mr Hobbs was miscast as a starting pitcher. A guy with a two for stamina starting games. Crazy, right? Guess what! He's a bullpen arm now. A setup guy to be precise. A darn good one at that.
All he's done is taken those lumps from last year, and turned them into gold. As the primary setup guy for closer Norm McConnell, he has thrown 28 1/3 innings over 21 games. He's struck out 37 over those 28 1/3 innings, and has only given up two home runs. Oh by the way, his ERA is at a sparkling 1.59. Even better, his ERA was below 1.00 for most of the season until a couple of rough outings in June. By rough I mean giving up two runs in two innings. This guy is flat out good. He deserves an All-Star vote. Will you give it to him?
