2038/1 (3?) They Did What?

Post by nerfHerder » Mon May 20, 2019 4:30 pm

Rumors of GM Michael Branda stepping down after a year became a reality when it was announced that the team was indeed on the lookout for a new GM. What they did though has everyone puzzled. They sent a group to Baghdad to lure former long-time GM Mike Bieschke from the Kings. Not only did it work, but former GM Michael Branda followed them there and promptly filled the still warm seat vacated by Bieschke. What a mind spinning turn of events. Surely the fans can't be excited, can they?

"What the hell?" 29 year old Aka Akana said. "Most of my friends became (Mexico City) Aztecs fans once the team made the decision to hang onto that guy. Looks like I'll be joining them". "At least that Branda guy offered us some hope", Akeala Nakoa said. "This feels like a literal step backwards". Maile Mu had this to say, "why don't they just go get a blind, deaf guy? Sorry for being that harsh, but damn". Not looking good from this perspective. Attendance has already been down since this was announced. Surely not what the franchise was hoping, but it also lines up with Owner John Hough and his past. He does what he wants and that's it. so what does the new (old) GM say?

"I am beyond excited to be back. I'm refreshed and ready to go. Not going to lie, I used my Baghdad time to clear my mind and really take a different look at things". Bieschke continued, "this really is a privilege to be in the BBA. Every single dang franchise is a special place. Hawaii is not different. I'm ready to get to work and return this franchise to the top". Obviously things are different from when he left. Several new faces are on the roster, several new faces are in the minors. "Not gonna lie, seeing Iron-Knife in Phoenix is a gut punch. I'm glad he's doing well, but he fits my Green Collar mentality here. I'll get over it". Can't wait to see where this goes.

Fans can be fickle, but you got a big ballpark and you cannot lie, right?

Don’t let grumpy fans bother you, Mike. You’ve left Baghdad behind for Hawaii - you’re living the dream!
