After a 47 win season, how low can they go. Not too low apparently. Through 56 games the Tropics are 28-28 for an even .500 record. A definite improvement, but do the fans care? With less than 18,000 fans filling the 60,000 seat stadium the Tropics call home it doesn't look like they do. Comments like "they still suck", "they'll find a way to screw it up", "it's early", the franchise might remind some of the Milwaukee Brewers of the MLB. This feels different though, let's examine why.

The big upgrade has been made by bringing up "kids". Dave Tallent at third instead of Pedro Hernandez. Ernesto Alfiche at shortstop instead of Adam Johnson. Then some veterans sprinkled in, Thierry Mignot in CF instead of Claudio Moreno, Michael Durham back in LF, and I think you all get the point. There are clear upgrades on the pitching staff as well, Mario Mendez, Raul Sanchez returns, Luis Torres is up from AAA. Clear cut reasons. Why is it different? There are more guys on the way. Manuel Aguilar Jr., Benton Allen, a long list of pitchers. This feels like a period of extended success unless management screws it up. Or draftees pull an Allen Ladner and leave for pro basketball. Maybe the sun is rising in Hawaii again?
