2034/5 Meet the Kids
For the duration of the worst season in Tropics history, GM Mike Bieschke couldn't help but look forward to September, when he would make the moves required to bring up some of the promising kids that are in the team's minor league system. Once their teams were eliminated form their playoffs, that exactly what he did. Ernesto Alfiche, Dave Tallent, and Liam Massey all made the jump to Hawaii. All three figure to be a big part of whatever happens on the islands, so the excitement is understood. Tallent and Massey are number one picks, with Massey spending quite some time in the minors. Alfiche is a round two selection who has developed quite fast. Massey probably has the highest potential as a top closer.
Liam Massey was grabbed with the 21st pick in the first round in 2029, with the idea that he may be able to close games at a high level. His stuff has continually gotten better and better as he's made quick work of the minors in recent years. He comes to Hawaii with 208 minor league saves over roughly six seasons. He's two for two in save opportunities in the BBA so far. Look for him to probably crack the team next season depending on how the offseason works out.
Dave Tallent was the ninth overall pick in 2032, and at the young age of 21 years old, made his major league debut. Riding the strength of 31 HR's in the minors this season, he deserves every chance. With 24 AB in six games, he has a line of .417/.417/.583 in his first week of BBA play. While he's still chasing his first HR, many expect that those will come in bunches, so no worries. Dave figures to be the starting 3B in Hawaii starting next season, and for many years to come.
Ernesto Alfiche has been exactly as advertised since being drafted with the ninth pick in the second round of the 2031 draft. Another youngster, at only 20, that figures to be in Hawaii for a long time. Heading into professional baseball he didn't have a position. With his athletic ability he was sent to SS and has developed into an elite defender, with only his arm strength a question mark. Offensively he won't set the world on fire, but he will hold his own. In his first BBA week he slashed .417/.444/.667 in 24 AB's, with four doubles and a triple. Not too shabby. Ernesto will be the starting SS in Hawaii next season.
Even though this season has been a complete disaster, especially after Michael Durham and Lawrence Stokes were lost for the season, there is a bright future. Some of which will start next season.

Some nice young players. Hawaii won't be done for too much longer.

Alfich should make quite a nice little shortstop. It's going to be interesting to see the Tropics take on the FLP.

Re: 2034/5 Meet the Kids
I'm ready to move past this season. Learned my lesson on finances and fan interest, so hopefully we're turning the corner.
