2033/7 Not Bad for a Rebuild

Post by nerfHerder » Thu Feb 15, 2018 8:42 am

The Tropics are in the middle of a rebuild (there are more cuts to come), but the youth coming up was able to muster a 75-87 finish. Now, what's next? It almost a sure thing that Joe Wilcox and that $15M option will be gone. Paul Backstrom is a guy that the club would like to move, but his salary and production will make that hard. Alfredo Chavez may be allowed to walk as well, but at $4+M he may be a bargain. Mike Davis will for sure be around, as the club feeds itself on that salary. Other than maybe Jose Garcia, it would appear that every other veteran will more than likely stick around. when the youth will arrive is the next question.

We have Ernesto Alfiche, who is fully developed in the field, but maybe needs a little more seasoning at the plate. Acquiring Fernando Martinez may have ensured that Alfiche will spend at least another season in the minors. Then you have Dave Tallent at the hot corner. Another guy that could probably use a little more seasoning. Pedro Hernandez is around as an option to hold that spot until he's ready. Of the pitchers, it doesn't seem like any of them are ready for the bigs as of yet. There have been some significant bumps in talent for Juan Trujillo, Lee Morgan, and even Stephen Taub, but none of them are ready to go. It will be more status quo, with an aging arm grabbed on the waiver wire in 2034. The future is getting bright though.

I had a sneaking suspicion (and i believe even said it on the preseason pod i did with ted), that morgan would turn out to bite me in the ass more than iron-knife did....

Thanks, though I will be the first to admit that I don't know what I'm doing.

He sure had a nice potential bump. I'm still not sold that either will fully develop.
