2033/2 Lee Resurrected

Post by nerfHerder » Fri Dec 22, 2017 10:31 am

2032 is a season that veteran lefty Chris Lee would like to forget. In 13 starts, he was 0-7 with a 6.86 ERA for the Topics, a team that he spent most of his career with. In fact he was hoping to call it a career in Hawaii after a few more seasons. Then it happened....03/11/2032 Injured (Mild shoulder strain), day-to-day for 3 days, 05/01/2032 Injured (Elbow tendinitis), out for 3 weeks, 06/17/2032 Injured (Elbow strain), out for 3 weeks, 07/10/2032 Injured (Forearm tendinitis), out for 2 weeks, 09/26/2032 Injured (Sore ankle), day-to-day for 3 days. The injuries just kept piling up. He felt ok, his velocity was good, he just never put it together. "I'm actually really grateful for the patience of the Tropics organization while I worked through some injuries", Lee recently said. After a few long rehab assignments and an offseason regimen change, Lee looks like he's ready to end his career on a high note. But there may be something else.

Through his first 15 seasons in the BBA, Lee has been an Asian man. Starting in 2033 he made the biggest change a person can make, he became a black man. "I'd always wanted to give it a try", Lee said of being an African-American. "I went through the pros and cons and decided to take the plunge". After experimental surgery in the depths of Mexico, there was no turning back. Once complete, he knew what he had to do next. With out a real strong base of black pitchers in the BBA, he found Dave Stewart of MLB fame to sort of mentor him. It has paid off. In 2033, he had 9 starts for the Tropics, going 2-3 with a 3.02 ERA. Everything about him, control, velocity, movement, has been right around his career norm. Unfortunately for Lee, his dream of ending his career in Hawaii won't happen. The club sent him to Jacksonville for a minor leaguer. He does however get a chance to win, and that's all one can ask for.

That's awesome. I had something similar going on with Luis Gracia, who for a while was either of African or Latin descent depending on if you looked at his picture in the game or on his html page. Or maybe he just got a really bitchin' tan and it became permanent.

Yeah, it’s funny how the game just changes that. Lee was a full blown Asian man.
