2032/7 Ho-Hum Week One, 3-4 .429, 2 GB

Not much is expected of this version of Hawaii Tropics, not even from their very own owner, John Hough. So, the 3-4 start didn't send out too many alarms. The fact that two starting position players began the year on the DL, along with a SP, it's early. Here were the performers of the week.

1B - Joe Wilcox

Joe kept up his torrid pace from the end of 2031 by starting with a line of .346/.414/.692 with 3 Hr and 5 RBI in 26 AB. On 4/2, even though it was a loss, Wilcox had a three hit game against Calgary. On 4/6 he had a two hit game with an RBI in a win vs Huntsville. Big things are expected of Wilcox as he enters his opt out year, a clause that he insisted upon if he was to resign in Hawaii.

CL - Lawrence Stokes

Stoker had a nice start to his 2032 campaign, as most closers in Hawaii flame out in year two. In three games, he threw three innings and had a perfect three saves while striking out 4. He only gave up one hit over those innings. Things appear to be going nowhere but up for this fan favorite in Hawaii.

OF - Rich Ayers

Rich got off to a hot start as well, even on a bum ankle. Shifting over to LF to fill in for the injured Michael Durham, Ayers put up a slash line of .333/.429/.542 with an HR and two RBI in 24 AB. He also drew four walks and swiped a base. Defensively he left a little to be desired as an error lowered his fielding percentage to an abysmal .833. Ayers should move back to RF next week.

In other news, Michael Durham should return next week from a short stint on the DL. His bat will greatly help this anemic offense. It will also allow Ayers to make that move back to right as was mentioned earlier. Germao Traado has three games left on his suspension for fighting that he earned at the end of last season. He might make an appearance soon. Stay tuned for more as this season progresses.
