2026/1 No Leader?

When last season ended, the Tropics were faced with a tough decision on whether or not to choose Matthew Stuart's team option. Stuart was not so great on the field, adequate, but not a major piece. What he more resembled was the glue in the clubhouse. He was the joker, the guy for advice, the guy to lean on if you got yourself in trouble. The team obviously didn't pick up the option, but flirted with him over the offseason. Eventually Vancouver threw some money at him, and he eagerly joined the Mounties. Now what? Gone was the leader.

Enter Antonio Sanchez. The seldom used infielder has picked up the slack. He is often seen staying late with the guys, hitting balls, joking around. Anything to keep the team together. Between he and Gary Knowles, the club hasn't skipped a beat. Quickly approaching the all star break, the club is at 52-32 and sitting atop the JL Pacific standings. "These guys have been great", manager Mike Bieschke recently said. "As the GM,as well as the field manager, it was tough to let Matty go. So far so good though". Said Sanchez, "Beisbol has been berry goo to me. I luv the game berry much. I give back, I give back". Gary Knowles has helped with the language barrier that Sanchez sometimes encounters."Antonio's my guy. He doesn't play much, but he's crazy. A perfect fit for us." Tropics faithful can't wait to see the second half unfold.

Uh I most assuredly did not sign him.

Weird. I saw that he was signed, but I couldn't remember who did. When I did a search for him, he showed up as a Mountie.

Yea he was tossed into a trade. He will be on his way out shortly.
