In 18 May games, the Hawai'i starting staff has pitched 85% of
the team's innings. The rotation has pitched 135 2/3 innings and
the bull pen, 22 1/3 innings. Four starters have one complete game,
including shut outs by MacNeill over California and Wallace over Valencia.
The rotation has a May ERA of 3.18 and the bull pen, allowing five
earned runs, an ERA of 2.01. The team has not given up an unearned
run in May. Despite these numbers, the team is 9-9 in May.

M. Washington, John Daniels
McKinley Washington (7.0) and John Daniels (6.3) have combined for 13 1/3
of the bull pen innings, or 59%. The other relievers have averaged under two
innings. Daniels now has an ERA of 1.59 in 28.3 innings on the season.
The team ERA for the season is 3.47, which includes the starters (3.69, 3rd)
and the pen (2.84, 1st).
Pity that the offense, which blasted 50 home runs in April, has hit only 16 thus
far in May. This includes a blast by MacNeill. Still, the 66 home runs rank 2nd.
Tied for 2nd
Hawai'i hopes to finish May over .500. It is currently 25-21, tied with Valencia,
one game behind the Vancouver Mounties. The team plays one game versus the
Stars, against whom its has gone 3-2. The tie for second won't last long.
Hawai'i then plays Vancouver two games and hopes to improve on its 1-2 record
against them. Next, Hawai'i plays 3 games against California; that series is split
3-3 already.
"Shikes, had we done better again' Californication, the worst team in the
division, we'd be sitting on top of the JLP."
The Tropics finish May with two against Buffalo and one against Carolina.
The team would like to thank this report for probably jinxing them for the
remaining 9 games this month.
