The Vancouver Mounties scored two runs off Tropics reliever Ray Harrison in the top of the 9th to break a 4-4 tie. Mounties reliever Serge Elovsky pitched a scoreless bottom of the 9th to secure the win and pick up his 9th save.
Harrison allowed two homers and four total hits in 1.2 innings to take the loss to fall to 1-1. Harry Spurlock tossed 5.1 innings allowing three runs with two earned on six hits. He walked three and fanned five in a no decision.
Harry Surface was 1 for 4 with a solo homer (4). Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez was 3 for 4 with a double (7), triple (4), stole a base (4) and scored two runs.

Hawaii’s Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez crushed an 0-2 slider from Jesus Garcia for a two-run homer (4) to give the Trops a lead they would not relinquish. Martinez was 2 for 4 with double (8), drove in three runs and scored twice. Tropics C Bob Webb drove in two runs and hit two doubles (9).
Hawaii starter Mahad ‘Furball’ Einan picked up his 1st win in a Tropics uniform after allowing three runs on eight hits and a couple of walks in 7 innings of work. He struck out two and is now 1-2 with a 2.09 ERA. Utkan Gocek picked up his 3rd save with two clean innings with two Ks.

Hawaii pitchers gave up nine hits but allowed just one run to the Mounties while the offense did just enough to secure the series win. Buwono Mainaky surrendered 8 hits, walked three and fanned four in 6.2 innings. A struggling Alex Garcia threw just one pitch and got an out followed by Ray Harrison giving up an unearned run to the Mounties in his inning of work. Utkan Gocek shut the door with a clean inning for his 4th save and made Harrison the game winner. Harrison is now 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA.
Harry Surface was 3 for 4 with two RBI and scored a run. On defense he completed a solo double play to kill a Vancouver rally in the top of the 4th inning. Jorge Dodd and Carlos Schumann each drove in a run.
The Hawaii Tropics win the three-game series 2-1.
