Hawaii 12 San Fernando 0- Tuesday, August 1, 2062

WP- Kinzo Iwamoto (12-5)

LP- Jerry Richards (2-8)

Attendance- 39,841 at ‘Iolani Palace

Hawaii starter Kinzo Iwamoto threw seven shutout innings and CF Carlos Sanchez drives in four runs as the Trops win Game 1 of the series versus the Bears.

Iwamoto scattered four hits, walked one and struck out three as he improves to 12-5 with a 3.19 ERA. Reynaldo Trinidad pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief then John Moore recorded the final out with a K.

Sanchez was 2 for 3 with a double (20), a walk, a sac fly, scored a run and drove in four on the day. Eric Owens was 1 for 5 with a double (30) and two RBI. 1B url=https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 71230.html]Carlos Antunez[/url] was 1 for 4 with two walks, two RBI and scored two runs.

San Fernando 3 Hawaii 1- Wednesday, August 2, 2062

WP- Morris Chapa (9-5)

LP- Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia (6-6)

Attendance- 39,762 at ‘Iolani Palace

The San Fernando Bears even the series by winning an old-fashioned pitching duel against the Tropics. Morris Chapa handcuffed the Hawaii offense allowing a run on four hits with two walks while striking out three batters. Hawaii starter was ok in his start allowing three runs (two earned) in six hits and a walk while fanning five batters. The Trops bullpen put up four scoreless innings allowing just a hit and struck out four batters while the Bears ‘pen put up two scoreless innings while allowing a couple of hits, walking one and striking out two.

Carlos Antunez was 1 for 3 with a double (8) and an RBI single that scored RF url=https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 66578.html]Vincente Mendez[/url] with Hawaii’s lone run.

Hawaii 7 San Fernando 4 (10 innings)- Thursday, August 3, 2062

WP- Reynaldo Trinidad (4-1)

LP- Bob Butler (1-2)

Attendance- 39.924 at ‘Iolani Palace

The Hawaii Tropics walk it off in extras on a three-run blast (4) by Jeff Appleton in the bottom of the 10th.

The Tropics had built a 4-1 lead over the Bears through seven innings. Niegloslaw Woywitka had pitched six innings giving up a run on seven hits and three walks while striking out four. He left the game in line to earn his 14th win but the Bears had other thoughts. They put up two runs in the 8th and a run in the 9th to tie the game up and gift Woywitka a no decision.

Appleton was 1 for 4 with the big hit and had four RBI on the day. Carlos Antunez was 2 for 3 with a double (9) and scored two runs. Hawaii also had homers by Mitch Wareham (11) and Vincente Mendez (7).

Reynaldo Trinidad earned the win to improve to 4-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 2/3 of an inning of work.

San Fernando 4 Hawaii 2- Friday, August 4, 2062

WP- Steve Fuller (5-1)

LP- Marty Pearce (0-2)

Save- Dhrtatman Seshadri (4)

Time: 3:07

Attendance- 39,770 at ‘Iolani Palace

The San Fernando Bears earn a series split as they steal a win with two runs in the top of the 9th then hold on after Back Tat Man Seshadri let the Trops begin a rally before he snuffed it out.

Marty Pearce couldn’t get the job done in the 9th as he allowed the Bears those two runs on a hit and two walks to take the loss to fall to 0-2. Semih Gurani made the start for Hawaii going 5.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while fanning five batters.

Rookie 3B Jorge Dodd was 2 for 4 with a solo homer (5) and two ribbies.

Hawaii and San Fernando split the four-game series.
