The Hawaii Tropics signed catcher Enrique Mendoza to a one-year deal worth $2,500,000. Mendoza began his career in the Las Vegas organization and had a cup of coffee with the Hustlers in 2052. He left the team and made his way to the GBC to play for the Sydney Sharks in 2053. He was inconsistent for the Sharks over four seasons then made his way to Buenos Aires for a season and finally to Tokyo for one. He returned to the Brewster in 2059 with Jacksonville but struggled with the Zombies and signed with Austin for 2060. He put up 1.4 WAR that year for the Shredders and 2.2 WAR in 2061.
Mendoza is a 4/4/5/5/4/7 hitter and a 7 rated catcher 7/7/8 Blocking/Framing/Arm.
Gm Jim Walker said, “Mendoza will give Jeff Appleton a break every four games. He should hit well enough to hold his own and play solid defense.”
