Reyes powers up early in '04
Prime of his career at 35?

C Hurley Reyes hit 29 homers last season, leaving him 29 short of 400. The slugger has
lowered the "magic number" to 20 by hitting eight homers in April and one so far in May.
Reyes has also raised his power rating to 10 while starting all but two of the Tropics 35 games.
Last season he missed two weeks in April with a sprained ankle. This offseason Reyes retained
a new private trainer and he insisted on playing in 23 of 24 spring training games.
The Iowa City native leads the team in home runs but also in walks (18)—he is set to smash
his personal best in base-on-balls (67), set last season—and runs (22). He is third in rbis (22).
In July 2001 Reyes connected for career home run number 300 on Thomas Edison Bobblehead
night at Tropics Stadium.
Bets are on as to when the veteran catcher will connect for #400.
