Aloha Ka Punahou 20012.07

If one wanted a daffy reason to "justify" Davey Acheson's inclusion on the All Star team, any All Star team, is that, since coming to Hawai'i he's won 3 games--all against FL teams. His latest effort was a 5-1 win over New Orleans a day after coming off the DL. So one could argue that his FL record is 8-5 rather than 5-5. His next scheduled start is against another FL team, Birmingham.
However, Mr Acheson, the Class Act, needs to step it up against JL teams. A good time to do so would be against Vancouver, who he is expected to face--and defeat--in the upcoming mid-August four game series in that cold, dreary Canadian city. Else, Mr Class Act might have a Class Action suit filed against him.
Since coming to Hawai'i, Acheson defeated Montreal 5-1 and ATC 9-2, with an in between no decision against Buffalo in a game the Tropics won 4-3. Against JL teams, the story has been different. Acheson pitched mediocrely against JLP rival Valencia despite a Hawai'i (but not Acheson) 5-4 win and pitched miserably in a 6-0 loss to California. Then he went 2 and a third against Chicago and gave up 6 weeks of playing time.
The Tropics didn't trade for Acheson so that he would get injured a month later, nor did they trade for him so that he would defeat FL teams exclusively--well, not until the LMS. After Acheson defeats Birmingham for his 195th career win, it would be great if he could get win #196 against the Canucks, er, Mounties. I mean, everybody, including Vancouver GM Schroeder is rooting for Acheson to get his 200th career win this season, isn't they?
