After a disappointing May started to turn into a June swoon, the fan discontent about the new front office was impossible to hide. Ben Heuring had been handed the keys to one of the best teams in the BBA and was driving the car right off the cliff. The panic buttons were being pressed, and after a listless loss in Nashville and the Popes down 4-1 in the 8th against the GM's old paleJose Torres, rumors were spreading that there might be a sell off for the Popes in the future. But then a funny thing happened. The Popes rallied and won it in 13 innings thanks to some hot hitting. By the time the weekend was over, the Popes had taken 3 of 4 and have now just gotten above .500.
Emilio Morales Jr. was brought in to help get the offense going, and has at least gotten a couple of home runs. With the pitching staff rounding back into form and the offense getting healthier, the Popes are hopefully going to save this season. The front office knows that the only way to earn the trust of the fans is to win.
