2061.06 Popes Make Major Trade

Have you ever been to an amazing Mexican restaurant and ordered their specialty burrito everyone raves about only to fill up on three baskets of fresh tortilla chips because the chips and the salsa were, at the time, the best versions of either you've ever lifted to your mouth with your stupid, fat American fingers, leaving you wildly uncomfortable and a hint warm despite the cool air jetting from the ducts over your red vinyl booth, so you adjust your belt one notch larger to accommodate the new flabby bulge of your stomach and wipe the sweat from your brow with the same napkin you used to clean up some of the salsa you spilled and dribbled as you crunched your way through the free appetizer, despite knowing the main event of a burrito was still being expertly assembled by a man who speaks little to no English, using recipes for all the components of the burrito that have never been written down and live solely inside the man's head because he has a cousin in the town just down the road who owns a competing restaurant of his own due to a falling out the two had over a girl at their niece's third birthday party who danced with both of the cousins in such a seductive manner both fell madly in love with her even to this day, despite the 12 years separating the birthday party and the day you waddled into one of their restaurants and arrogantly mispronounced "una cerveza por favor" by accentuating the wrong part of each word to the beautiful waitress who was unlucky enough to have your pompous ass in her section, which shouldn't have even been part of her section if her nemesis Taylor would have shown up for work, instead calling in for the fourth time this month due to stomach cramps that your waitress swears is from Taylor sleeping with half the lacrosse team and three-quarters of the chess club which only has four members because the longtime coach of the club retired from his history teaching position after 35 years of correcting scribbled exams and reading wildly poorly written essays on the Revolutionary War, which matters little to you now because you feel your wait for your burrito, even with your bulbous and stuffed stomach, has been far too long, and you begin to believe it's all a ploy for them to sell you more Dos Equis?

Anyway, the Popes traded for 18-year-old Chinese International Complex pitcher Wei-guo Louis from Chicago for a whopping $400,001. The team is excited.

We've made the mistake one time of eating Meixcan food on vacation. Never again. Only in El Paso or the surrounding area.

We have a small Mexican place in a makeshift corner of a gas station that serves better true Mexican food than I've gotten anywhere else. It's carry out only and it is wildling delicious. The habanero salsa (which I continually dump on my burrito as I devour its soul) is out of this damn world.

Definitely a tongue-in-cheek comment. There are Mexican laborers throughout the Midwest who bring the authentic tastes of home with them. I've had some great Mexican food in farm towns in Iowa.

Chicago has a tremendous Mexican food scene. Second most native Mexicans of any American city after Los Angeles.

Ahh…I love Mexican food. One of the reasons I’m happy that I live in Arizona.

Then there’s the time I went to a Mexican restaurant named Tequila’s when visiting my family in Southern Illinois that my uncle referred to as Tuh-Kwill-Uhs.
My dad, who minored in Spanish in college, talked to the waiter in Spanish all night, which the waiter said he enjoyed because so few people in the area speak Spanish.
My brother asked the waiter about one of the meals on the menu.

“This mole…is that real mole?”

The waitered chucked and responded “No, we can’t serve real mole here. This is like a fundido sauce.”

I live in as rural a town in the southwestern tip of Virginia (the part of the map where VA, Kentucky, WV, TN, and NC all sort of merge together). Not exactly a hub of immigration if you catch my drift. Yet I felt like this Team News was written in my home town where we are surrounded by no more than a dozen Mexican restaurants within a 20 mile radius.
