2057.02 Fire Shoeless (Again)
Garbage Notes from the Desk of shoeless:
** L'Arch was terrible in Sacramento. Waived... released... too bad... always thought he'd be amazing here. His wrecked body just ain't what it used to be.
** Wullenweber has been terrible in his second stint in SAC (1-4, 6.12 ERA in nine starts... gross). He will not be waived or released. It's his ship, and we'll go down with it if we have to.
** Don Keagle is my favorite player.
** Signed a guy going by the name Edward Lake this past sim. He's 37 years old and I've never heard of him. He'll replace L'Arch in the lineup against RHP and play right field, thus moving Unem Ploid back to his natural position of DH.
** Lane is leading the division. Yay.
** Is it time to switch to an entirely new philosophy? The Right WindTM just isn't cutting it anymore. Too many teams have embraced speed/no power/constant pressure players. What's next? Hmm... I wonder if heavier players perform better than lighter players... or vice versa... time to make some trades.

L'Arch and Wullenweber look like victims of bad BABIP luck. But don't listen to me, I'm more likely to hold onto guys waiting for them to regress to the mean than better GMs.

You’re likely right that they’d come back to normal. I couldn’t wait in LArch as having him forced me to play Ploid in RF. And that’s not good regardless of how well they both hit.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 4:40 pmL'Arch and Wullenweber look like victims of bad BABIP luck. Re: 2057.02 Fire Shoeless (Again)
Wullenweber is about to lump hard. He's lost 3 levels of velocity already and with an 8 rated fastball, more MPH should fall soon. He had a really lucky 2056 with a .259 BABIP. I'd expect him to play closer to a worse version of his 2054/5 self. On the surface that still looks great as he posted WAR's of 4.4 and 5.2. But tell me how that WAR makes sense... he had an ERA over 4.00, gave up over a hit per inning and averaged about 25 homers given up. That's a 2.5-3 WAR mid rotation innings eater in my book.
He'll hang around for a few more years because his stuff/control and breaking pitches are still elite. Even if his stuff lumps to a 9(which could take a year or two), he's still an effective pitcher. RP convert him and he could be an elite RP for another 3 or so years.

Re: 2057.02 Fire Shoeless (Again)
If you want WAR based on ERA (and thus takes hits into consideration) you have to look at bWAR/rWAR and not the more commonly displayed stat in the game, fWAR. fWAR calculates based off FIP.
