After making a post-trade splash, thirdbasman Tsuyoshi Kobayashi has fallen on a bit of a cold spell, hitting .120 in his last six games, with only a single homer to show for it.
He’s staying upbeat though something that, since he came to the clubhouse with a bit of a reputation, his teammates are noting.
“TK is having a good time, I think,” said Unem Ploid. “So that makes a difference. It’s always easier to deal with things when you’re winning, too.”
Perhaps the idea that he’s going to be a free agent in the off season, and expects that to come with a hefty price tag doesn’t hurt either. Whatever the cause, he’s haning loose these days, as one might be able to tell when we recently asked him about his downturn
“When I’m in a slump, I comfort myself by saying if I believe in dinosaurs, then somewhere, they must be believing in me. And if they believe in me, then I can believe in me. Then I bust out.” (*)
Well … I guess you can’t beat that logic, right?
