A month-long string of sellout crowds at the Basilica came to an end this week as Omaha and Madison, a pair of Heartland teams came to town. “We almost couldn’t give tickets away,” said Freddy ‘Turnstiles’ Denton, the team’s ticket office manager. “It’s been a stressful week.
The team has routinely been filling all 60K seats in the most beautiful park in the league, but with these teams as competition, attendance dropped to as low at 48K.
“No one wants to see a Heartland team,” Denton explained. “I wonder if we could relegate them to the GBC?”
