GM Shoeless spent the day after the Mad Popes game seven loss to the Bluebirds collecting debris and strong-willed weeds from the median of Interstate 80 outside Sacramento. According to sources close to the organization, Shoeless plans to burn what he collects as a form of offering to the great Camacho (May the World Crack and Give Birth to many Donkeagles!). The great spirit Camacho's help is being requested as the Mad Popes find themselves with five players with player options this offseason -- Rube Vazquez, Bill Constable, Mike Campbell, Dan Flores, and walking bandaid Rafael Gutierrez.

Even if all five opt in for another season with the best organization in all of organized athletics, the Mad Popes should have $29 million worth of cap space to spend in free-agency. That cap space could be as high as $76 million if all five players opt to be target of many curses granted life in the secret sanctuaries of Camacho holy sites. I wonder if it hurts to have one's testicles removed by a rusty tweezer.
