47.06 International Player Shows Promise

Post by shoeless.db » Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:55 pm

Sacramento (AP) -- With the Mad Popes earning a bye through the first round of the playoffs after securing the Pacific Division crown, top brass within the organization are taking time to look over the progress of players within the International Complex. One prospect in particular has everyone excited. Canadian youngster Ernie Phelan is the talk of every scouting meeting.

"There is not a pitch that guy can't throw," Assistant to the Scouting Intern Jonas Jonhanaseaneal said. "I mean, none of them are any good and he can't throw them for strikes and he doesn't throw them hard and his mechanics are awful and sometimes it looks like he's never thrown a ball before and he forgets what the rubber is for and he'll show up to the park in hockey skates and his mom isn't all that hot, but, Wow! He's got all the pitches. Plus, how many International guys have something rated 11? Not many, but this stud does."

Phelan joined the Mad Popes organization in March of 2046 and has rocketed up the scouting charts.

"We've cut a lot of guys from the complex lately," Human Resources Director for Advanced Scouting Helen Hamerschick said. "We wanted to cut Ernie also, but my assistant thinks his name would look great on a baseball card, so we've kept him gainfully employed. He went from our 40th ranked IF guy to the 30th because of the cuts."

Rumors from within the Basilica have Phelan in a Rookie League Berkeley Golden Bears uniform to start next year. Attempts to confirm these rumors with GM Shoeless went to voicemail.
