August 11, 2044 | Mad Popes Record: 52-64, 18 GB, 8.5 GB(WC), 2-5 last sim

I hate Yellow Springs.
Our cute, little Mad Popes team started to bring a little joy back to Sacramento with a winning month of July, but then the damn Nine came to town and swept us in a three game set. I'm surprised their dirty rag of a publications outlet hasn't gloated on it yet, proclaiming the Nine's charity in actually bringing fans back to the park so they could watch a real baseball team play. Our Popes were so down-sodden by the sweep, they allowed the trash from Calumet to sweep us in a double header, resulting in a five-game losing streak -- a dagger to the spleen for our wildly ambitious wild card dreams.
Hope can still be glimpsed on the horizon, though. The Popes' schedule for the rest of August is a who's who of dysfunctional teams: Valencia, Vancouver, Portland, Long Beach, and Des Moines. Only Long Beach touts a winning record from the bunch, but the Popes won the prior series between the two clubs in early July and look to do the same.
In conclusion, I hate Yellow Springs, and Long Beach is that dried poop splatter on the underside of the toilet seat at the public restroom inside your local library.
Thank you for your time.
