44.30 Prospect Ranks: Position Players

Post by shoeless.db » Tue Sep 29, 2020 10:48 am

June 9, 2044 | Mad Popes Record: 22-40, 16 GB, 3-5 last sim
Rolio Elder | Apprentice to the Exalted Mystic | Donkeagle Press

In a recent league feature, the Landis-phobic general manager of the hated Yellow Springs Nine, Ron Collins, ranked the top minor league systems throughout the BBA. Our Mad Popes were far and away the number one ranked system due in large part to the sell-off of our top talent in Sacramento in exchange for high potential, lottery ticket youngsters. The following is the ranking of the top five position players in the Sacramento system as rated by the Donkeagle editors and myself.

1. CF Okyay 'Digital' Nisancî (R)
A lean, athletic centerfielder with elite bat skills, great speed, and above average defensive capabilities. He's the ideal player in Shoeless' The Right WindTM team philosophy which is why the moronic general manager spent over $18m (includes penalty) on him in International Free Agency this offseason. A few bumps in development along the way and he'll be one of the best outfielders in franchise history.

2. OF Wasim Ala' (R)
Shoeless' first 80 potential position player who was brought over in a trade with Montreal. Why is he not the top prospect? Well, hmm... He has elite power and eye potentials, decent contact skills, and above average athleticism, but The Right WindTM... right? Have we been brainwashed by Shoeless? Maybe. I mean, geez, Ala' is even a switch hitter. Damn you, Shoeless.

3. SS Ka'im Khayri (R)
An international scouting find in June of 2043, Khayri will likely end up at the hot corner when he develops. He's a similar makeup to Ala but with just slightly lower plate skills. He's also above average athletically and will fit nicely into the Mad Popes' future.

4. OF/1B Jiao-long Ma (R)
Brought in via trade from Brooklyn, left-handed hitting Ma does everything above average but doesn't do anything elite. He should be a solid contributor either at left field, first base, or DH moving forward.

5. LF Bayissa Mbaya (A)
This spot was a toss-up between Mbaya and infield prospect Heng-zong Guan, but Mbaya gets the nod as he's more developed and has had some very decorated and successful season in college. The hope is Mbaya develops into a usable strong side platoon at LF or DH with his potential 7/7/7/5/7 relative ratings against RHP and above average speed.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
