44.28 Rain!

Post by shoeless.db » Fri Sep 25, 2020 12:29 pm

June 2, 2044 | Mad Popes Record: 19-35, 14 GB, 2-2 last sim
Rolio Elder | Apprentice to the Exalted Mystic | Donkeagle Press

Camacho heard our silent cries, felt the torment in our souls, smelt the stink of Sacramento. We can feel his presence. He his here.

For, our savior, has brought rain!

The Mad Popes ended this last week of games at two wins and two losses after a game in Chicago and a game in Des Moines were postponed due to rain -- a much needed respite in an awful season.

"Maybe a couple off days will help us re-calibrate," Shoeless said. "If anything, at least it's a couple days of not losing."

Unfortunately, more losing looks to be on the horizon as the Mad Popes announced today a trade which sends their most consistent starting pitcher, Knud Zeitler, to Louisville in exchange for SP Freddy Delgado and minor league prospects, SS Jose Mendez, and OF Kyuichi Mori. Zeitler was likely on the last year of his contract due to a player opt-out after the season, and, frankly, it's been a miracle he's still healthy due to his wrecked status.

"The goal right now is to accumulate as many ballplayers who can one day contribute at the BBA level," Shoeless said. "Mendez is already an elite level defensive infielder who swings from the left side of the plate -- always valuable. And, Mori is a young kid with a fantastic approach at the plate. We couldn't be more excited."

The addition of Delgado doesn't add much to the club other than halting another promotion of a quad-A pitcher to Sacramento. He is well known throughout the league, though, so it's possible tens of fans may show up to see the 36-year-old pitch.

"Dumpsters! Flames! Putrid Smoke!" Exalted Mystic Ralph Dewaldo sang. "Heat nonetheless!"

“Never hit your mother with a shovel; it leaves a bad impression on her mind,” sang Nearly-Indicted Chicago owner Vinnie Vitale.

“Makes as much sense as the caterwauling from that Dewaldo freak.”

Caterwauling is a compliment, since it's widely accepted that cats are beautiful creatures who make beautiful noises.
