After struggling through the month of May, the Crusaders had a positive month of June going 16-12. The players listed here were key cogs to the turnaround from last month.
Starter of the Month:
Bjorn Nepal
In 6 games started he was 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA in 49.1 IP. He notched 19 K's to go against 6 walks. His WHIP was a small .95. Cali is so glad that Bjorn stuck around with a new contract. He has been great so far.
Reliever of the Month:
Austin Horta
In 7 games he was 1-0 with 1 Save and a 0.00 ERA. He notched 7 K's to go against just 1 walks. His WHIP was a miniscule .72. Amazingly 3 months into the season Austin still has yet to give up an earned run. He has been such a stud since coming over from Vegas in June of '99.
Infielder of the Month:
Seve Kava
He appeared in 27 games hitting .305/.324/.411/.734 in 95 AB's. He blasted 1 HR to power his way to a total of just 9 RBI. Kava again was a steady force although he was lacking the power and run production of a true stud.
Outfielder of the Month:
Sadaharu Oh Jr
He appeared in 27 games hitting .295/.405/.505/.910 in 95 AB's. He blasted 4 HR's to power his way to a total of 13 RBI. Oh Jr cooled of a little bit from his torrid pace earlier this season but he is still a force at the plate.
