Like the overflowing garbage can in my teenage son's bedroom, the Sacramento Mad Popes continued to add trash to an already garbage-ridden farm system by selecting three tragically flawed amateurs in this season's draft.
Nolan Lee
"The green-eyed woman, you know, Kocherscmeltz's old assistant, gave us reports on his spin rates," Shoeless said via a Zoom call. "She was very interested to conduct research on the young man's fingertip pressure and techniques, because he was getting an awful lot of movement from the ball, especially his splitter."
For Lee to make it to Sacramento, he'll need to develop more command of that splitter and his equally elite sinker. Also, a bump in velocity would certainly help in his stuff development (Editor's Note: We don't know what "stuff" means, but we were too lazy to make a change before publishing).
With the two compensation picks the Popes received due to losing veterans Luis Gracia and Cisco Morales, the team selected pitcher Aaron Anderson and outfielder Bayissa Mbaya.
Anderson is the complete opposite to Lee. He has great stuff and command potential, but lacks movement in his pitches. Mbaya looks to be a run of the mill corner outfielder with a good makeup which could result in some growth in his abilities.
