Yeah, I'm doing it! I'm going full Marco. I'm writing this purely for the points.
Hell, the Popes don't even need me. I quit meddling in my lineups and pitching staff 30 games into the season, and the club rewarded my laziness by climbing out of second place behind the cute, little San Fernando team and now running away with an eight game lead in the best division in the Brewster as the trade deadline approaches. I don't dare meddle with the team and make a trade as I'm sitting on an easy Landis victory by doing nothing.
I admit, though, I have tried to meddle a bit with the team by extending the great Luis Gracia to an extension, thereby keeping him in a Crusader/Pope uniform for his entire career. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your level of cynicism, Gracia has pitched out of his Dominican mind this season, leading the league in ERA and among the league leaders in wins (all you sabermetricphiles can pleasure yourself to his FIP numbers if you want, too). Due to his great season, he wants a three year extension at around $16 million per season -- an impossible request for Sacramento brass to fulfill. I'm going to fake-baseball cry if the 38-year-old Gracia doesn't retire after the season and ends up playing 2044 for some inferior baseball organization, like Edmonton, Louisville, or Yellow Springs. Sorry, @Ted . I failed us both.
@RonCo Make sure to give me my two points for this, damn it.
