43.08 Six Fingered Man

With their second selection in the 2043 BBA Amateur Draft, the Sacramento Mad Popes drafted prep starting pitcher, Chet McVurie out of San Diego, California. The 6'6", 210 lb righty profiles an arsenal of six average to above average offerings. The high number of pitches is made easier by the six fingers on his right hand.

"I was teased quite a bit as a kid for having that extra finger," McVurie said via telephone call from his parent's home. "And, to be honest, getting drafted allows me to stare down all those bullies and give them a finger. If you know what I mean."

McVurie will need to find a way to add some pressure to the ball with that extra finger to push a little more movement from his pitches if he plans on making an impact at the highest level. He will also need to work on his command. Scouts rate both his movement and control potentials at a below-average 4/10.

"I'm sorry, but I need to cut this interview short," McVurie said. "There's a guy here that's saying I killed his father. He seems upset."

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

Careful, Chet. That guy’s not really left handed ...
