43.02 Unveiling the Sacramento Mad Popes
December 14, 2042
The Unveiling
Skirting threats from old-school Brewster purists and rival general managers, the California Crusaders unveiled today an entire re-brand for their proud and original franchise. The organization will now be known as the Sacramento Mad Popes, a tip of the hat to the Crusader nickname legacy and an acknowledgement of the city of Sacramento and its fervent fan base.
"It's a proud day for the city of Sacramento and our storied franchise," GM Shoeless said to a massive gathering of fans and media outside South Pacific Field. "Generalities of place are no more. We are Sacramento! We are Mad Popes!"
The crowd erupted in raucous cheering, then began chanting, "Mad Popes! Mad Popes! Mad Popes."
After the gathered fans quieted, Shoeless continued: "How about we take a look at our new logos? And, our new jerseys and new baseball hat, which will, of course, be available for sale in the tents behind you?"

Re: 43.02 Unveiling the Sacramento Mad Popes
This is great. Always meant to rebrand the team. Just felt very bland as an organization. The California Crusaders were a team in Recte's old FPS league, same ugly logo, etc. Was bland there too (and also horribly run with a string of uninvolved owners so never really relevant). Also never made sense. What does California have to do with Crusades and Crusaders? (Also, maybe not a part of history to be celebrated). Just never got around around to it. Go Sacramento!

Re: 43.02 Unveiling the Sacramento Mad Popes
As a purist, I hate to see the California Crusaders go. But always felt they needed a re-brand in the worst way.
With that said, I like the Sacramento Mad Popes.
