42.37 Sept 15 Random Shoeless Thoughts

Random Shoeless Thoughts
September 15, 2042

1. Well, Hawaii climbed two games in the standing and now sit five back with 16 games to play. I have the weakest SOS remaining of any team in the BBA at .419. Hawaii has the strongest SOS of any Pacific team at .465. The odds are in our favor.

2. (sorry for the lack of color on this) On September 1, Crusader starting pitcher Dani Garcia gave up a solo home run to Vancouver's Fernando Castillo in the bottom of the first inning. Garcia, taking insult from Castillo's slow home run trot, proceeded to plunk Vancouver three-hitter, Ángel González. Benches cleared, resulting in ejections for both Garcia and Castillo. The altercation woke up a Crusader team suffering from the doldrums of the long baseball season. California won the next three games of the series. @StormZ_23

3. On September 2, Vancouver, always one to never let a chance at petty revenge pass them by, plunked newly acquired Crusader third baseman, Jose Cortes, in the head during the game. The result of the cowardly act: A four week stint on the injured list for Cortes due to a concussion. Thanks, Mounties! I guess, we'll ride out the year without a captain.

4. I wonder if @jleddy ever shows my slack messages about his Tinder obsession to his Tinder girls staying at his apartment. And, if yes, are they more disgusted by Joe's participation in a fake baseball league or his Tinder obsession?

5. Looking into next year, I'm curious how the 2043 season will play out for aging starting pitchers, Luis Gracia and Cisco Morales. Both will be on the last year of their contracts. If they play well enough to accumulate compensation-worthy WAR figures (baseball gods willing), it may be in the organization's best interest to let both walk to free agency. Their ages are not prime for free agent contracts, but both are easily worthy of a flier from teams needing solid starting pitching depth. The thought of letting Gracia walk isn't preferred, but, hell, I'm running a business, after all. Their departures will loosen the strings on the old moneybag, also.

6. I'm thinking of hiring a Promotions Coordinator in California (this is a copycat league and Portland has seen success with such a maneuver). Here's our likely candidate for the position:

Well, make sure you take out Hawaii in your current series then, too.
