Quant Kouros
Regardless of Kouros' workmanlike approach to the game, only BBA journeyman Aaron Hayes put together a longer string of games with a hit for the Crusaders. Hayes hit in 25 straight games in 2002. Hall of Famer Morris 'T-Rex' Pennebaker also hit in 23 straight for the Crusaders in 2005.
"Well, not to toot my own horn, but there's a reason I traded away Jaime Mercado for the Greek Freak," GM Shoeless said. "You don't find too many better guys to lead off for your lineup than him. And, 23 games, wow! I'm certain it won't be the last time he flirts with the California record books."
In 2041, Kouros' first full season with the Crusaders, he set all-time Crusader single-season records for runs (132) and doubles (49-Tie, Jorge Lugo, 2041). He was also fourth in stolen bases for a season (79), fourth in hit-by-pitches (16), and eighth in hits (201).
When told of his single season marks, Kouros had the following to say: "Phaw! Records. Only pathetic old men with nothing to do but dream of the good old days care about records."
