LF Keith Schultz
California's top pick in the extremely strong 2039 Amateur Draft, Schultz hasn't sped through the minors as others in his class, but he's developed enough and build a solid enough case to be considered as the starting left fielder for the Crusaders next season. With Bismarck in 2041, Schultz led the team in all the following categories: hits (158), doubles (36), triples (T-3), homeruns (30), batting average (.294), RBIs (89), and OBP (.359), and SLG (.539).
"We've been patient with Schultz as we didn't want to stunt his development like we did with fellow 2039 first rounder Joe Lacy," said GM Shoeless. "We need Schultz to be a long-time contributor for us in California. We can't have him up too early and piddle away his potential."
Schultz was originally drafted to play center field but has since been moved to left field where he grades out above average.
"Schultz is as quick as anyone out in the field and on the bases," said Shoeless. "If he can learn to harness that speed by getting good jumps in the outfield and on his steal attempts, he'll be an even bigger weapon for us."
Shoeless genuinely hopes Schultz will put together a good spring training in 2041 and travel with the big club on opening day. In the meantime, Schultz will get further opportunity to hone his skills in the winter league.
