All five lack a third pitch, so the likely future for them all will be in the bullpen -- a position of weakness throughout the Crusader organization.
"Our goal was to go after guys who passed the eye test from our scouts," said General Manager Shoeless. "We wanted the best arms available at the spots we selected. We were hoping for some guys we can slot in the starting rotationg, but it just so happened the top hurlers on our board were bullpen guys."
Crusader brass also hinted at the possibility of appointments for a couple of these pitchers with Dr. Kocherschmeltz, an experimental scientist who often works with the team.
"A third pitch added to the profile for these guys might allow us to use them in a starting roll," said Assistant GM Anton Vogts. "But, even without ... meddling, our Rookie ball catchers better be ready. These dudes throw some elite level pitches."
