Sunday, December 16, 2040 -- Stop. Just please, stop. Why are you doing this to me? Why are you giving me hope? I'm talking to you Rodrigo Vallés, José López, and Joe Lacy.
How dare you continue to play well in the Florida Prospect League? California specifically sent you there to begin bleeding your true, awful colors. But, instead, you decide to just keep playing well. Why? It's doing you no good. We all know the almighty OSA ratings mean more than your inflated stats. It's high time you idiots jump on board and just start sucking like the baseball god's intended.
Name | Position | Age | Overall | Potential | 2040 FPL BA | 2040 FPL OBP | 2040 FPL SLG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Rodrigo Vallés | Catcher | 19 | 20 | 40 | .340 | .392 | .530 |
José López | 1B/DH | 19 | 20 | 35 | .361 | .426 | .554 |
Joe Lacy | Everywhere | 19 | 35 | 45 | .323 | .356 | .419 |
One could forgive Vallés and López as they are still relatively raw to professional baseball. Both were recent draftees in the much heralded 2040 draft class and spent the summer playing for California's Rookie League affiliate, the Berkeley Golden Bears. Lacy, on the other hand, no longer has the excuse of being green behind the ears. A member of the Crusader's 2039 draft class, Lacy has done everything possible to spread his false hope throughout this grand organization.
Lacy was named the 2040 Minor League Batter of the Year for single A Hollywood, slashing .319/.340/.590 in 354 plate appearances, hammering 19 home runs, and compiling 3.5 WAR. He was moved to AA Compton in the middle of the season and just kept hitting (.330/.363/.560 in 204 PA).
I'm just so tired of these nobodies taking away the great stats and awards from California's true prospects like Keith Schultz and César Feliciana. At some point, the true prospects need to be allowed to rise to the top, and, in this blogger's humble opinion, guys like Vallés, López, and Lacy are just holding them back by making them feel bad.
It's all just false hope.
