Pope Playing Pepper; 2039.15

Pope Playing Pepper
with Sai and Aarav

SAI -- Welcome to Triple P, Crusader Fans! I'm your intermittent-fasting host, Sai "Young" Ahuji, and with me, as always, is the stinky-footed Aarav "the Mad Pope of Mumbai" Patil.

AARAV -- My feet were warm.

SAI -- Put your damn shoes on, man. It's like an invisible cloud of death in here.

AARAV -- Can we just do the stupid show for our five viewers?

SAI -- We sometimes get six, but, yeah, let's jump in.

HOW'S THE POPE'S CRUSADE GOING?
Well, we cancelled last week's show as we subscribe to the old-school baseball belief of never sleeping on a streak, and, since Aarav is a virgin by personality and looks, not by choice, we substitute 'sleeping' with 'telecasting'. The Crusaders went on a dominant nine game winning streak before Omaha's drunken duck started a four run rally in the ninth on July 30th with a 108.1 MPH groundball, leading to a come-from-behind-Crusader-streak-ending win for the Omahawkonians. Despite the slight hiccup, California is 11-2 in their last 13 games, leading to an insurmountable 3 1/2 game lead in the Frick League Pacific Division.

SWORDSMAN OF CHAOS
There was no mightier champion than Raúl Hernández over the last week. Hernández, currently on a 10-game hitting streak, is hitting .349 with 10 home runs and two double over that span. On the year, Hernández has hit 39 homeruns. It's nice to see fear in the opposing pitcher's eyes again when this dude comes to the plate.

SLINGER OF DESTRUCTION
While all the slingers are slinging the tar out of the ball lately, Manuel Andrés has been nothing but spectacular over his last seven starts, resulting in a Pitcher of the Month Award for July in the Frick League. Andrés dominated in his last seven starts, posting a 5-2 record and an ERA of 2.38.

MUSTACHE SPOTLIGHT
With a name like Drew Hair, you'd assume the guy would excel at his flow game. You'd be wrong, of course, as Hair, like a maniac, doesn't sport either a massive fro or bug-infested beard. It's like he doesn't even care about his name-sake. Be better, Hair! Major disappointment!

RIVALRY REPORT
Third ranked Pope Playing Pepper intern, Billly Two-Belts, took some time away from eating half a dozen donuts from the green room to follow up on a hot tip he found on a Brewster League forum. The tip led Two-Belts to a dingy, poorly run dive bar on the south side of town going by the creative name, Ronnie's. After a couple warm tap beers from taps with lines growing an odd-colored green mold, Two-Belts took his leave from his bar stool to relieve himself. Upon entering the men's bathroom, Two-Belts nearly went head over tea-kettle over a hunched GM Shoeless meticulously scrubbing the groutlines of the tile floor with a toothbrush. Upon further investigation, Two-Belts discovered Shoeless is under the tutelage of Yellow Springs GM, Ron Collins, and learning to despise just about every organization within the BBA. So, I guess, screw everyone. Go Cali!

NOTES FROM THE MARCH
We kicked some butt. Gm Shoeless had nothing to do with it. Same old story.

RECRUITS IN TRAINING
Thomas Kramer is still a phenom.

AARAV -- Pretty light on the last two segments, aren't you, Sai?

SAI -- Well, top unpaid intern, Wasim Jeffers Jr, keeps rambling in my earpiece about some trade he's catching wind of from his secret location in GM Shoeless's office. Something about Huntsville. Something about a SS. Something about an OF. Something about a curse from some guy's mom. Something about an outfielder pitching. What the hell?

AARAV -- Blockbuster?

SAI -- Bigger than the Lynch trade from Wasim's unbridled excitement. We'll fill you in when we know more. See you at the ballpark, Crusader fans!

Considering just a few sims ago 3.5 games was the difference from 1-5 in the Pacific, that is a gigantic lead.

It doesn't feel gigantic...

My pitching has been phenomenal lately, and we've received some hot and timely hitting from our studs... hope it lasts.

California pitching being phenomenal? That is about as normal as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

Now, there goes Wasim spreading ridiculous rumors. Everyone knows Huntsville doesn't trade, plus even if we did there's no way we would get another outfield prospect ... wait. What's that? We did? Over the objections of the assistant GM?

Excuse me, gotta go check in with the office ...
